Adam Scott and Brandt Snedeker both took advantage of the early conditions on Thursday and Friday respectively to post low scores and set themselves up to win the British Open at Royal Lytham.
Snedeker leads on 10-under, one shot ahead of Scott but lurking behind them is Tiger Woods who shot 67 for a second consecutive day to lie four shots back. Woods can be backed at 3/1, Scott 10/3 and Snedeker 5/1. After that it’s 16/1 the field.
A number of players had improved performances from yesterday to make the cut including Luke Donald and Lee Westwood.
Westwood shot level par in a round that had just one bogey unlike the six he carded yesterday. He just made the cut on +3 and will one of the early starters on Saturday morning.
One of the best 2-balls on Saturday will be McIlroy and Harrington with both players having something to prove. What is McIlroy’s true form – his round on Thursday or Friday? We think he’ll be pumped to try and make something happen early in his 3rd round.
Bubba Watson can get the better of Ian Poulter and Geoff Ogilvy the better of Retief Goosen. With good weather expected on Saturday we can expect to see some low scores on the course.
