A top class field line up for the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot later today with Sea Moon, Nathaniel & St Nicholas Abbey all disputing favoritism.
A field on ten go to post and also includes last season’s Arc winner Danedream and French raider Dunaden.
Sea Moon may be the one to go off favourite having been unbeaten on his two starts this season and was impressive in beating Dunaden in the Hardwicke Stakes.
Nathaniel is potentially the class act of the race having won this race last year and making a winning reappearance in the Coral Eclipse at Sandown.
SNA defeated Sea Moon in the Breeders Cup Turf at the end of last season and comes here following a second successive win in the Coronation Cup at Epsom.
Danedream was an impressive winner of the Arc in October but disappointed in her last run in France. Dunaden has been an impressive performer on the international stage winning the Melbourne Cup and Hong Kong Vase.
This promises to be a fascinating renewal of the King George and cases can be made for three or four in the race but Nathaniel will appreciate this 1m4f trip and is taken to improve further on his Coral Eclipse win.
Recommendation: Nathaniel – King George @ 3/1
