Rose can bloom at The Curragh

Ray Flanagan has two selections for the Bank Holiday Monday.

We have two competitive Irish fixtures this May Bank Holiday Monday and I have one selection from each venue.

Down Royal 2.25- Space Ship,

Space Ship has become somewhat frustrating over hurdles and might up being one of those horses who never gets his snout in front. Nonetheless, this former useful handicapper on the level has plenty of natural ability and I think deserves another chance today. There is the possibility that he slightly needed the run when fading in the closing stages behind To Choose at Fairyhouse twelve days ago. Overall he still has the best hurdles form in the book with the standard of his Musselburgh fourth to Broughton 15 months ago well ahead of anything achieved by the opposition over hurdles.

Curragh 4.55- Nancy Rose

Nancy Rose signed of 2014 with a satisfactory performance running second to Hannah’s Magic at Navan and appeals as the type to make further progress as a four-year old. She made up plenty of ground on the outside on that stiff track alluding any fears about her stamina for ten furlongs. There is always an element of guesswork at this stage with horse first time out, particularly from the smaller stables, but we just have to hope that Joseph Murphy will have her forward enough to do herself justice. She has displayed an aptitude for testing ground previously so connections could well be targeting a win today before conditions dry out in upcoming weeks.
