Steve Hughes has just the one bet for Tuesday’s only remaining fixture
With jumps racing wiped out on Tuesday and only a moderate card at Southwell to pore over, I am sticking with just the one bet today to save up for bigger and better races to come later in the week. We had a winning nap on Monday through Dubawi Fifty (advised 11/8).
Southwell 4.00: Queens Royale
This is only a class 5, but it features several in-form horses who act well on the Fibresand. My fancy is one of those in Queens Royale.
Unlike Sooqaan (three wins at a mile) or Angel Palanas (two wins at 6f), Queens Royale has been doing her winning at this 7f trip and that could prove decisive today. Queens Royale has the tactical speed to keep up with the early gallop, but the stamina to maintain that tempo to the line.
She likes to race prominently which is usually a good thing at Southwell and has shown real grit to win three races here this winter. She has gone up 14lbs as a consequence and her winning run did come to an end last time when 3l behind Mister Music. However that rival has always been the height of inconsistency and the selection can reverse form with the excellent Robert Winston back on board.
