Gold to rush to victory

Steve Hughes has two hurdlers to follow on Sunday

Just the two jumps meetings on Sunday and I have a selection from each. We had a solid Saturday with a win for Amomentofmadness (11/4), plus placed efforts from each-way bets Takingrisks (advised 8/1) and Curbyourenthusiasm (7/1).

Exeter 2.35: Dinos Benefit

A revelation on her first start for Colin Tizzard at Chepstow last month, Dinos Benefit might just be able to back up that win on her handicap debut at Exeter.

Consistent in mares points in Ireland, Dinos Benefit made a satisfactory debut in Britain when fourth in a Towcester bumper just before Christmas. She did not seem to quote get home on bottomless ground over 2m6f at Wincanton on her hurdles debut in February.

Since transferred to Tizzard, she kept on strongly over 2m to win at Chepstow, beating a previous winner in the process. It is difficult to gauge from that quite how much ability she has or how much she has improved for the change of yards, but a rating of 120 looks realistic and a stiff 2m on testing going could prove ideal.

Carlisle 4.30: My Old Gold

A strong stayer in Irish points, My Old Gold gets a first chance to perform over 3m plus under rules and on her handicap debut.

The 8yo was in great form last spring, including an 8l victory over Bridane Rebel who has been competitive in these sort of races over hurdles this winter. She has come to racing under rules quite late, but has been eased nicely into novice events.

She has been placed on all three starts at distances from 2m-2m5f and each time has stayed on well late. She has already shown ability when the emphasis is on stamina so I expect her to outperform her opening mark of 112 today.

Recommended bets:

0.75pts each-way – Dinos Benefit – 2.35 Exeter – 11/2 general

1pt win – My Old Gold – 4.30 Carlisle – 11/4 general
