Ray Flanagan with Thursday Chester selections
Chester 3.00- Another Batt
A little exposed now at this stage but deserves to be top weight. Decent form as a juvenile which included a listed race placing at Newbury behind Greenham third Hey Gaman. Solid reappearance in the Nell Gwyn last month. Prominent racer who should run a good race from stall two.
Chester 3.35- Duretto
Idaho understandably is a short priced favourite, but do you really want to take odds-on about a horse, who has after all, been unplaced on his last five starts.
Duretto rates a value alternative. Andrew Balding’s gelding has good previous course form and has a decent record previously coming off a break. Closely matched with second favourite Muntahaa on previous form and was not beaten far in this contest last year when he carried a three pound penalty.
Chester 5.05- Abareeq
Disappointing last week at Ascot but probably unsuited by soft ground. On a decent mark based on all weather form and a few unlucky efforts in 2017 indicate he can yet prove effective on grass.
