Ray Flanagan with Sunday selections
Thought for the day: If you pick losers you will lose money, yet you can pick winners but not win any money.
Masar (16-1) was a winner for us yesterday.
A few speculative selections today putting hopes in Joseph O Brien springing a few surprises.
Useful form at Dundalk over the winter campaign. Out of depth in listed company on seasonal reappearance befoe eye-catching effort recently at Navan making strong late headway having been poorly positioned. Inexperienced rider a concern but at least claims ten pounds and weighted to go close.
Listowel 4.45- Verse of Love
Drops back to one mile having been over 13 and 11 on two most recent starts. That may be to much on this tight track but I thought both of those efforts were promising and breeding suggests this ought to be a better horse on decent ground.
Listowel 5.15- Toulson
Useful handicapper over 10 furlongs in the UK last season. Has been quiet so far since joining one of the sharks of the sport, Charles Byrne. Promising effort at Roscommon recently, and while distance likely to be beyond him today, one to watch and cannot be completely overlooked at 20-1.
Useful novice hurdler/novice handicap hurdler two seasons ago and beat a decent field at Leopardstown. Has not shown much in novice company over fences ( funnily enough not unusual for horses wearing the green and gold hoops) but likely to leave that form well behind in due course. Hard to know if this afternoon will be the day but has the right ground and has the ability if ready.
