Ray Flanagan with Saturday selections
thought for the day: It is hard to know who will win this World Cup.
Band of Outlaws (7-1) was a winner last Sunday. Three selections for a sporting interest this afternoon.
Sandown 12.55- Pouvair Magique
Campaigned over middle distances last season and having pulled hard in his races often failed to stay. Re-invented as a miler this season and fine opening to the campaign with emphatic Newbury win defeating Victoria Cup winner Ripp Orf. Pulling habits resurfaced next time at Newcastle but worth another chance in likely strong run contest here.
Haydock 1.45- Wingingit
Strong renewal of the Old Newton Cup ( It’s first cousin, the Old Borough Cup, is ran at the same venue in September)
Wingingit was a progressive type for Noel Meade last season where his best form included a defeat of Pandagreen at Leopardtown and a slightly unlucky second place finish behind the useful handicapper Clongowes at Down Royal. Has not really blossomed yet since moving to Andrew Balding (pictured) but not disgraced in listed contests on his first and third starts this season and reverting to a big field handicap could easily see the horse in a better light today.
Bellewstown 6.20- Veinard
Very hard horse to win with but has often ran well in some big field competitive handicaps. Quirky nature of Bellewstown’s turning track could keep him interested and this race a little easier than some of his previous outings.
