Feeling the Buzz at Newbury

Ray Flanagan with Saturday selections

thought for the day: Could Hughie Morrison find magic today.

A few selections for an interest this Saturday including a couple of Hughie Morrison housed horses,

Newbury 1.45-Buzz

Some strong snippets of form on both turf and all weather which include a close second to Eynhallow and a victory over Dash of Spice who competed with distinction in top handicaps early in the season. A disappointing favourite at Nottingham  most recently but that was over 14 furlongs and can be forgiven.  Has a soft ground pedigree so should not mind any further softening of the ground and an interesting contender that is for sure.

Ayr-2.00- Fire Brigade

Similar to myself has struggled to find any momentum this year. Gradually returning to form though and suspicion that the deep ground conditions will play to his strengths this afternoon.

Newmarket 3.55- Fun Mac

Not the strongest Cesarewitch trial ever run with the field made up mostly of exposed performers with nothing in hand of the assessor. With that in mind top-weight Fun Mac could hold as good of chance as any. Morrison’s horse is a thorough stayer and should appreciate dropping in grade slightly following decent efforts this season in both handicap company at Chester and listed company at Sandown.

Gowran 5.25- Davids Charm

Useful hurdler who reverts to the flat in what looks a winnable race. Trip a shade sharp perhaps but heavy ground will level the playfield and might be the one.
