Ray Flanagan with Naas selections
thought for the day: The Birdcatcher Nursery at Naas , always a sign that the winter is imminent.
A few selections for an interest where Donnacha O Brien (pictured) could be in for a good day.
Naas 4.15- Comeragh Haze
Good initial promise this season behind Future Proof at Leopardstown and in strong Gowran maiden won by Kalaxana (contests closing listed race today). Disappointing at both Sligo and Galway since moving handicapping but plausible excuses with trip/ground. Connections reach for blinkers dropping back in trip here and reasonably treated on the basis of those earlier maiden efforts.
Naas 4.50- Downdraft
Possibly a shade high in the weights but this looks an easier contest than what he has faced on recent starts. Not disgraced in top Ascot handicap back in June and fair seventh in a big field behind Hamley at The Curragh a month ago. Stamina, over this trip anyway, would seem his strong suit so more positive tactics could see him go close.
Naas 5.20- Dynabee
Solid middle distance pedigree coming from the family of Scriptwriter ( formerly 100 rated UK staying handicapper) Lightly raced grey filly who shaped pleasingly at Gowran in August behind Snowy Winter. Did not improve afterwards in the Oyster Stakes at Galway but was poorly positioned on desperate ground. Stayed on ok in the straight though suggesting stamina was not a problem and could have the edge in that department here if able to quicken better on faster ground.
