Ray Flanagan with Bank Holiday Monday selections
thought for the day: I was pleased to see one of my favourite golfers Xander Schauffle win the tournament in China this weekend, his fourth career success. I expect that this golfer will win a couple of majors although perhaps not for another year or two.
An additional flat meeting at Galway this year. It is never an easy venue to pick a winner at ( where is I suppose) but a few for an interest all the same.
Decent run over course and distance at the September meeting, albeit he did not back the performance up next time at Limerick. Was never going to trouble the easy winner though that day and did not have a hard race. Big price today if we forgive and give him another chance.
Galway 3.30- Lady Camelot and Maze Runner
Lady Camelot is a game tough sort who puts her head down and battles. Two good efforts here at the Summer festival and another good showing at Listowel. Not flashy but keeps galloping and likely to be in the thick of it.
Maze Runner shaped ok twice at Galway in the summer and was a little unlucky against the smart Baby Pink at Listowel last time. Application of pieces could eek out a bit extra today and leading contender.
Galway 4.05-One Cool Poet
Fine effort behind the improving Perfect Tapatino on penultimate start and good effort subsequently at Naas having conceded ground at the start. Ben Coen good value for his claim and holds solid chance here.
Galway 4.35- Aa Bee See
Possibly needs a bit further and is badly drawn, however on the plus side it is no harm to stay a bit further than the official distance at Galway and looked like a winner waiting to happen when narrowly chinned by Jake Peter at Tramore last time.
Needs a good ride by Tom Madden but we will hope for the best.
