Ray Flanagan with Sunday selections
thought for the day: While a person’s physical health is very important, a person’s mental health is also very important.
Expert Eye (7-1) and Sistercharlie (5-1) were winners at the Breeders Cup last night. I was greedy in my own bet , I could have opted to do Magical in the “betting without” market, but sometimes the greed gets the better of a punter.
Today at Naas I am hoping that Colin Keane can find magic.
Naas 2.30- Song of Namibia
Promising handicapper last term although has struggled this season. On a workable mark though and this race is easier than some of the hot handicaps he contested earlier in the season. Hard to know what to make of his recent success in a charity race but may be coming back on the boil and worth chancing perhaps.
Naas 3.00- Stratum and Davids Charm.
I feel to be honest it will take a better judge than me to find the winner of this race, a magnificent contest, the November Handicap.
I am going for Stratum on the basis that he still retains potential from his Newbury success earlier in the season and has genuine excuses for two subsequent defeats ( hampered/non-stayer). Keane should be able to get a nice toe settling in mid division on the rail from a low draw and a ground saving ride could put him in the picture.
Davids Charm gave it a solid shot in the October handicap and connections right to give it another rattle in the November version. Wide draw may not hinder as I expect the jockey to bounce him out get across to the rail and try and make all the running. He could be up to the task.
Naas 4.05- Mustajeer
Ran well in the Ebor at York and is selected to complete a memorable day for Keane.
