Ray Flanagan with Fairyhouse Sunday selections
thought for the day: One might like to turn the clock back but unfortunately that cannot be done.
Fairyhouse 1.35-Mind’s Eye
Have always felt that Mind Eye would make a better chaser than hurler given his size and scope. Solid campaign last year where the highlights included a Christmas Leopardstown and fourth to Lalor at Aintree.
Opening two chase runs have been only fair but I expect significant improvement upped in trip on a more galloping track today.
Fairyhouse 3.10- Tornado Watch (W/O Wonder Laish)
Tornado Watch could pose a live threat off a low weight of only 9-4 if we factor in Conor Orr’s claim. Emmet Mullins charge has mixed it well over both codes in recent months winning at Kilbeggan over the sticks in May and running ok in a few fair flat contests including the Guinness handicap at Galway.
Ran very well on latest start in the US where he was only 3 lengths off the 150 plus rated Jury Duty off level weights. In case the favourite proves unstoppable we will play in the without market, but looks to have a fair chance.
