Steve Hughes has a selection for the only Tuesday jumps meeting at Market Rasen
I have a single selection for Market Rasen’s jumps card in the hope the meeting survives its late morning inspection. Headline selection Spring Wolf was a winner at Taunton yesterday (SP 6/1).
Market Rasen 3.25: Megalodon
Megalodon showed decent form over 3m in Irish points and having been handicapped in relatively high level 2m novice contests, I expect much better now the 6yo is stepped up in trip for this first foray into handicap company.
He ran in two big field hurdles at Newbury against exalted opposition, but showed up long enough to suggest he has some ability. That was confirmed when put into a lower level contest at Lingfield last time. Having got outpaced coming down the hill, he stayed on pleasingly in the straight and will have learned plenty for having been in a real battle late on.
Trainer Paul Henderson had a success at Sandown on Saturday with a similarly campaigned novice in Duarigle and regular jockey Paddy Brennan can steer Megalodon to success with this 2m5f distance expected to suit perfectly.
0.75pts each-way – Megalodon – 3.25 Market Rasen – 7/1 Paddy Power (1/5 odds first 4)
