Ray Flanagan with Meydan Thursday selections

Meydan 4.15-Baroot and Symbolisation

I am happy to give Baroot another chance although this is probably a better race than the one in which he underperformed in last week. For one reason or another the race seemed to get away from him getting shuffled too far back but it was noticeable that he was finishing off the race pretty well under minimal effort. I was quite taken with his previous win at a lower level and if getting a reasonable gallop to chase here he could easily bounce back.

Symbolisation has to be respected. He showed good form at a decent level last summer including a fifth place finish in the Jersey Stakes. A big strong horse there could be plenty more in the locker.

Meydan 5.25-Top Score

Slight question mark about the distance but has decent form in sprint including a close second to Limato at Newmarket. Got too far back over 7f here a few weeks ago and will be interesting to se if straight track can prove suitable.

Meydan 6.00-Fas

An open race but the now French-trained Fas looks the most interesting at the prices. Having started off his career with his current trainer in France he moved to Eddie Lynam’s yard last year and it did not really happen for him although I thought he shaped well enough a couple of times at Leopardstown and Navan. Not badly handicapped on the pick of his form and with Eddie having set the horse a very busy campaign he could benefit from the break and prove a lively one today.
