Steve Hughes has a single selection for Sunday
Only the one British meeting remaining and not huge fields either at Carlisle. However there is an open looking veterans race with perhaps a little value to fish out.
Carlisle 3.50: Takingrisks
In good form on better ground during the winter, Takingrisks is perhaps best on a heavy surface and gets his favoured going for the first time this season.
Of five career wins under rules, three have come under heavy conditions including two chases, most recently at Ayr at this time last year – his last run under fences on extreme ground. He is only 2lbs higher today and this represents his first venture into veterans company, so won’t come up against any unexposed rivals.
His form has been excellent considering the drier ground this term. He won a hurdle first time out at Ayr and has since been placed in much better company over fences including a third place in the Rowland Meyrick at Wetherby over Christmas. His jumping left something to be desired at Newcastle last time, but cheekpieces are deployed for the first time which might sharpen him up.
1pt win – Takingrisks – 3.50 Carlisle – 5/1 general
