Ray Flanagan with Listowel selections
thought for the day: “I have been doing bets without studying the races- a foolish habit that I must change”
The Listowel Kerry National has been kind to us in recent seasons however putting faith in a 25-1 rag today admittedly looks like chasing at rainbows. We live in hope however.
Listowel 2.30- Improving
ran two good races earlier in the campaign when fourth on seasonal debut over the course and distance and runner-up to Hit The Silk next time. Appeared weak at the finish in both recent races but worth another chance here with softer surface possible to suit better.
Listowel 3.40- Barra
Former Coral Cup third looks competitively handicapped today factoring in useful seven-pound claim from Hugh Morgan- indeed Elliot won with a similar profile horse in Wrath Of Titans a few seasons ago.
Coral Cup effort undoubtedly Barra’s best performance but showed she could cut the mustard over fences when desperately unlucky not to win the midlands National at Kilbeggan back in July. Galway Plate may have come too soon after that but well worth considering here.
