Steve Hughes has two picks for Epsom’s final fixture of 2019
Heavy overnight rain has ensured unusually testing going for Epsom’s final meeting of the year. I have two selections proven on soft going. Jazeel was placed for the each-way bet in the Cambridgeshire (14/1).
Epsom 3.05: Zzoro
A first time tongue-strap proved a big positive for Zzoro who bounced back to winning ways at Sandown a couple of weeks ago. That apparatus is back in place today and the gelding can take advantage of his favoured soft going.
Often found wanting in the closing stages, there was no question of Zzoro fading at Sandown. That was on ground as quick as Zzoro wants – he only runs on the All Weather or good/softer these days. His form has been ultra consistent though for a while and that tongue strap just seems to have given him that extra edge.
Another positive is that he was a soft ground winner on his last visit here over this 10f trip a year ago. Comfortable racing handy, this track should be a perfect fit and he should get a nice lead from perennial pacesetter Torcello.
Epsom 3.35: I’m Available
Fully proven on soft going, I’m Available has been kept fresh for an autumn campaign that could prove pretty busy now that the rain has truly arrived.
Another big factor in her favour is her preference for front-running and given this largely downhill track favours pacesetters and we have a small field that should enable Oisin Murphy to get her into that good early position. Such tactics proved massively successful at Nottingham in April when she made all to win by 8l.
She almost repeated the feat at Ascot next time, only to get caught close home. The Sandringham at the Royal meeting proved much too competitive for her to make all. However she will be fresh from a one hundred day absence and this is much more manageable a contest.

1.5pts win – I’m Available – 3.35 Epsom – 2/1 general
