Steve Hughes has a best bet for Kempton’s All Weather card
Only one meeting remains in Britain, on the sand at Kempton. Fortunately it is a cracking card with two quality staying contests the centrepiece. I have a strong selection for the 12f handicap – a horse that has caught my eye all winter. Headline selection Welsh Saint was a winner yesterday (advised 4/1).
Kempton 3.25: Entangling
A horse perhaps not best suited by the twists and turns of Lingfield, Entangling should be seen to better effect on this more galloping track and give veteran trainer David Elsworth a valuable winner.
The 6yo is unbeaten in two handicaps at this track, having sprung a 50/1 shock here in November from a full two year absence. He had the pace to win over a mile that day, even though he had previously won here over this 12f distance.
Since then he has won once in four attempts at Lingfield, but he has been flying at the finish each time finding the run-in at the Surrey track simply too short. He will have more time to build up some momentum here, and put to use that great turn of speed he has previously shown.
2pts win – Entangling – 3.25 Kempton – 2/1 general
