Ray Flanagan with Saturday selections
thought for the day: I should have tipped Scarlet Dragon yesterday having quietly fancied him to spring a shock
The concluding day of the five-day Ascot festival and I am pleased it has gone better than the last two major festivals at Cheltenham and Galway.
Hoping to finish the week on a positive note.
Rapidly progressing sprinter riding the crest of a wave. Ground a concern but recent Naas won suggested his star continues to rise and looks worth chancing to overcome the doubt.
Ascot 4.10- Stone of Destiny
Unlucky a few times last season including over the course and distance. Satisfactory reappearance at Newmarket and expected to go well with ease in the ground a plus.
Naas 4.45- Bardo Contigua
Won nicely at Ayr last season when trained by Roger Varian and caught my eye on recent Irish debut at Naas when was tenderly handled as if better could be expected in future. Lightly raced type who looks open to further improvement.
Naas 5.15-Celtic Beauty
Last years Albany Stakes runner-up holds a squeak on her best efforts. Has a bit to find with Punita Ahora based on recent Naas form but was unlucky in-running that day and should be much closer this time.
