Ray Flanagan with York and Killarney Racing Selections
thought for the day: Perhaps York is the greatest racing festival of all. A few selections from the Knavesmire and Killarney.
York 3.45- True Destiny and Summer Moon
True Destiny is a previous course winner and has plenty of notable staying handicap form to his name. He appeared a little unsuited to the undulations when underperforming at Goodwood recently and can be given another chance here with Ryan Moore booked.
Summer Moon disappointed on latest two starts but not necessarily a deal breaker given coming from this this stable; it is typical for their horses to fluctuate in performance drastically from one race to the next. A hard stable to follow is Mark Johnstone’s. Twice a previous course winner and would have every chance if reproducing Cesarewitch run or indeed Ascot Stakes this year.
Killarney- 2.30- Chiricahua and Kings Vow
Chiricahua caught my eye in a Naas maiden last autumn behind D’egraves. Low key enough three-year old campaign so far but thought good enough to contest Derby and potentially thrown in here off 91.
Kings Vow has been disappointing but shaped a little better on recent starts. Should enjoy the longer straight today and trip and ground should suit.
Killarney 4.40- Day Dreamin
Shaped encouragingly over course and distance recently and appeals as being a little better than his current rating.
