Ray Flanagan with Leopardstown and Cheltenham Racing Selections
Three selections for an interest this Saturday
Numerian may relish the likely emphasis on stamina this afternoon and he is taken to defy top weight. Some of his better efforts read well including second to Armery at The Curragh a few starts ago. He looks the best value option at the prices.
Melburnian has not made the anticipated progress this season following his win in the October handicap in 2019 but this contest represents a significant drop in class today from which he may take advantage. Tony Martin’s charge has not troubled the judge this term but shaped reasonably well all the same in better contests recently at both Listowel and again in this years October handicap at Leopardstown seven days ago. The drop in trip is another variable to ponder but I think he has sufficient pace and we will stick with him here.
Cheltenham 3.50- Cloth Cap
Judging by yesterday it will take me a while to get up to speed on the jumpers and just the one interest at Cheltenham today. Cloth Cap was a promising young stayer two seasons ago where he finished placed in the Scottish National. He appeared to struggle last season on soft ground therefore perhaps first time out this year encountering his favourite good ground may be the time to catch him. He can make the most of his light weight.
