Ray Flanagan with Saturday Racing selections
Fairyhouse- 1.40 Elwood
Reverts to hurdles after his jumping has gone to pieces over fences. May be just for a confidence booster but has run well against better opposition than this over both hurdles and fences. Could outclass them if putting his best foot forward.
Warwick- 3.00- Django Django and Didero Vallis
Django Django looked a stayer with a future when winning at Newbury 12 months ago but it has been all downhill since, with the horse struggling to go the pace and keep up in his races. Jonjo his trainer (pictured) is throwing everything at it today- stepping the horse up in trip, applying cheek-pieces and reaching for the services of Dickie Johnson. Hopefully all three factors can combine to make him sparkle again.
I had Didero Vallis earmarked as a future staying handicap chaser back in the days with Willie Mullins in Ireland. His UK form in fairness does not support the view that he is an out and out stayer and that even 2m 4 F may be his most suitable distance. It is hard to know though and interesting that Williams is trying him over an extreme distance. At the prices he is worth a nibble.
Market Rasen -2.40-Mohaayed
Sharp circuit may just suit Mohaayed better than his market rivals and is selected to upstage the other two. Dan Skelton’s horse remains in good heart judged on two recent placed efforts and may find this track quite suitable.
