Our best bets for 2017

VARIOUS / Our team of expert tipsters give us their best bets for the 2017 sporting year.

Steve Hughes – HORSE RACING – Moon Racer to win the Supreme Novice Hurdle – Cheltenham Festival @ 7/1 (Ladbrokes) – We don’t get to see him very often so might have slipped under the radar a bit.  However he has Festival winning form in the bumper previously and looks a horse with not only plenty of class but real battling qualities on the evidence of his Grade 2 win at the track in November. Could easily head straight to this race without another run.

Ray Flanagan – HORSE RACING – Un De Sceaux to win Ryanair Chase – Cheltenham Festival @ 6/1 (bet365)Un De Sceaux is likely to be aimed at the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham on the basis that he will not be pitched up against stable companion Douvan over Two Miles in the Champion Chase. Willie Mullins’ once very exuberant front runner is settling better in his race these days and his French efforts suggest he can prove equally if not more effective at 2 1/2 Miles. A gutsy winner of the recent Tingle Creek chase he sets a good standard and should be right in the thick of the action come March.

Peter Teazle – HORSE RACING – Faugheen to win Champion Hurdle – Cheltenham Festival @ 9/4 (BetVictor) – The eight-year-old has not been seen since winning the Irish Champion Hurdle Leopardstown last season but expect trainer Willie Mullins to have his star primed to win that race again on Jan 29th before going on to further glory at the Cheltenham Festival.

Thomas Henryville – FOOTBALL – Sergio Aguero to finish Premier League Top Scorer @ 5/1 (bet365) – Currently 4 goals behind Diego Costa, expect Aguero to have a strong second half to the season as he will be the main beneficiary of Pep Guardiola’s style of attacking play and is sure to pick up a few hat-tricks along the way.

Johnny England – FOOTBALLFulham to make the Championship Playoffs @ 11/8 (skybet) – Fulham started the season slowly but are in decent form of late and are playing decent football under manager Slavisa Jokanovic so a promotion push looks assured.

Felix Hassler – FOOTBALL – A Spanish side to win the Champions League @ 10/11 – Barcelona & Real Madrid head the betting for the Champions League and with question marks over Carlo Ancelotti’s reign at Bayern Munich it’s difficult to see anything other than a Spanish side winning in Cardiff on June 3rd.

Amen Corner– GOLF – Dustin Johnson to win a Major in 2017 @ 7/4 (Paddy Power) – After finally winning his first major at Oakmont, Dustin Johnson continued the momentum and finished 2016 on a high is the man to follow in the 2017 Majors.

Joe Layne – NBA – Golden State Warriors to win NBA Championship @ 11/13 (888sport) – The Warriors really slipped up in the 2016 Finals but now with KD in their side expect them to gain revenge over the Cleveland Cavaliers in June.
