Rosberg On Upward Curve For Canada

So far this season, there have been six different drivers to have won the opening six races of the Formula 1 season.

This week it’s the Canadian Grand Prix and is one of the most open betting heats of recent races. Lewis Hamilton heads the betting at 11/4 followed by Fernando Alonso at 6/1.

Interestingly, Hamilton has yet to win this season and is a little on the short side considering the struggles of McLaren so far this season. Despite setting fast laps, Hamilton has been let down by the McLaren pit crew and race strategists.

The 2011 Canadian Grand Prix was a thriller with Jenson Button working his way from 18th to win the race on the final lap after Sebastian Vettel made a mistake.

Button lies 7th in the overall standings with 45 points and is 31 points behind Championship leader Fernando Alonso. The English driver has struggled in recent races picking up just two points from the last three races and doesn’t look like winning this week at 12/1.

The Red Bull cars look opposable this weekend has they have been ordered to make modifications to the floor of the car which won them the Bahrain and Monaco Grand Prix’s. They will likely lose some downforce and the car doesn’t seem to have the same advantage as last year.

That leaves Ferrari and Mercedes as the most likely teams to win this week and the races set to be a showdown between their principle drivers Alonso and Nico Rosberg.

Alsono leads the Championship and the Ferrari is consistent and will sure be on the podium come Sunday evening.

Rosberg won in China and the car seems to be an upward curve. Rosberg got held up behind Mark Webber at Monaco despite having the faster car. Teammate Michael Schumacher took pole at that race before losing it for a misdemeanour.

Recommendation: Nico Rosberg @ 10/1
